Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 Episode 12: Camelot/3000 Recap

lgn212full

Is sweeps month over yet? I love all of the action, but the death and destruction get a bit intense by the end of the month. Thank goodness we have Supergirl and Legends to lighten things up a bit. Remember, I said a bit. Supergirl was the designated hitter for humor this week. Legends is still coping with an evil ex Time Master.

It’s the year 3000, and we’re in Detroit. The local economy has improved in the last thousand years, if the skyline is anything to go by. I now have a Jonas Brothers song stuck in my head. Soon the Legends will be going to the Year 3000, as well, because Rip is already there, creating mischief. Rip approaches Dr Mid-Nite in his future lab. He wants the fragment of the Spear of Destiny that he left with Dr Mid-Nite, explaining to Mid-Nite that he’s taking it to the Vanishing Point. Mid-Nite points out that Rip said the Time Masters couldn’t be trusted. Boy, that turned out to be even more true than Rip knew. Rip shoots Mid-Nite and decides to retrieve the spear fragment the hard way. He assumes that means removing it from inside Mid-Nite’s body, since the doctor was researching cybernetic implants. Rip is also interested in Mid-Nite’s biomorphic mind control technology.

Agents of SHIELD Season 4 Episode 15: Self Control Recap

aos415lmdmay

Wow! This was one of the best episodes of the entire series. Such a roller coaster ride of plot and emotion. It was well-titled, with Self Control, in the sense of self-rule, being the theme of the night. Who was still in control of their very self, and who had been replaced by an LMD against their will? Who was really in charge of the submarine and the orders coming out of it? Sometimes humans are so easy to fool. Which humans could control their emotions and their bodies long enough to beat the LMDs?

The episode starts with the two sneak peaks that were released last week. Aida’s playing classic rock for her captives in order to increase their dopamine levels. She’s chosen one of Ivanov’s favorites, since he’s about to undergo a terrifying procedure involving a saw and him becoming many things.

Fitz and Simmons are panicking over the LMDs taking over the base. They’re trying to figure out a plan when the LMDs approach them for advice about Ivanov’s weapons capabilities. They intend to bring all of the inhumans to HQ, ostensibly to protect them, but really to kill them. They have a fleet of Daisybots in the basement waiting to be activated, then they’ll send them all out to greet the inhumans personally and execute each one.

Agents of SHIELD/HYDRA 4×16 Promo and Returning Character Teaser [Video] [Interviews Updated]

Plus Interviews with Showrunner Jed Whedon

Aaah!! Spoilers ahead for the third pod of season 4 of Agents of SHIELD, and episode 15 if you haven’t seen that yet!

This is so exciting! Self Control was an amazing episode, and I’ll have my recap up in a few hours (it’s up), but I wanted to put up the interviews and promos that are being published first. I’m not sure yet if the pod title is Agents of HYDRA or Agents of Shield: HYDRA, but HYDRA flashes in place of SHIELD at the end of the episode and in the promos, so it’ll be something like that. I was so happy to see the Triskelion intact at the end of the episode, and then to see the HYDRA logo!  The showrunners are saying in interviews that the arc will be split between the real world and the Matrix Framework, so we’ll get to see what the world would be like if HYDRA had won at the end of Winter Soldier. There’s nothing like a good canon AU! It would be incredible if they would mention what the Avengers are all doing in this brave new world, if they aren’t dead.

The interviews, promo and teaser videos are under the cut.

Supergirl Season 2 Episode 13: Mr. & Mrs. Mxyzptlk Recap

spg213karamxy

We pick up right where we left off last week, with Mr Mxyzptlk proposing marriage to Kara, professing his undying love, and then throwing out one liners at the speed of light. He sings a snippet of A Whole New World, from Disney’s Aladdin, which is hilarious because the actor, Peter Gadiot, played the genie on Once Upon a Time in Wonderland.

Mon El interrupts Mxy’s monologue, but is quickly dispensed with. After a few well-placed insults, he’s sent off to the DEO in his underwear. I don’t think being without his clothes bothers Mon El in general as much as Mxyzptlk thinks it should.

With Mon El taken care of, Mxyzptlk continues his campaign to get Kara to accept his proposal, while also answering her questions as she tries to figure out what the heck is going on. Somewhere in the midst of wedding dresses, violin serenades, flowers, and candles, he lists the rules of engagement: He’s all-seeing and all-powerful, but he can’t make her marry him, fall in love with him, stop her from killing herself, or make her drink orange juice. Mxy vows to woo her until she falls in love with him, since he’s chosen her to be his mate. With that, he snaps his fingers and disappears again.

Nashville Season 5 Episode 8: Stand Beside Me Recap

NashvilleCMT_508_D7-1403.raf

It’s morning at the James-Claybourne residence and Daphne is making breakfast for everyone. “No sign of fire anywhere?” Rayna notes, showing us where Daphne inherited her snark talent from.

The security team is back, because Rayna’s stalker, Hockney, has bailed himself out of jail. Everyone will have a bodyguard from now on. Maddie gets upset because this will interfere with her date at Clay’s bar gig on Saturday. Someone needs to make Maddie a scrapbook of people killed and seriously injured by their stalkers, starting with the ones who were attacked in crowded public places. Maybe John Lennon could be on the first page.

The 100 Season 4 Episode 3: The Four Horsemen Recap

hu403luna

Things aren’t going well at Arkadia, as usual. They aren’t able to find and preserve enough food to store on the Ark for when the radiation comes, and they won’t be able to grow their own protein without a hydro generator. Raven takes a verbal shot at Bellamy for choosing to save people over the generator, but he tells her that he’s going to sacrifice himself anyway, so nothing she says is going to hurt him now. Raven turns to Clarke instead, to nag her about making a new list of 100 people, this time the ones who’ll get to be in the Ark on Doomsday. I love Raven, but she gets kind of stubborn, mean and single-minded when she’s in a bad mood. And she’s definitely in a bad mood this season.

The discussion is interrupted when Nyko, Luna and some of her people arrive at Arkadia suffering from Acute Radiation Sickness. They are looking for medical help from Skaikru. Luna has the grace to acknowledge that Skaikru has good reason to turn her away, and to beg them not to. Abby would never turn away anyone in need of medical help, and this group includes children, so they’re brought right in to the med bay. They tell Skaikru that all of Luna’s people are dead except the ones they’ve brought here, and the fish throughout the ocean are dying, as well. After Jackson examines the patients, he determines that the radiation sickness is from eating radioactive fish, rather than airborne radiation.

Agents of SHIELD Season 4 Episode 15: Self Control Sneak Peeks [Video]

This week’s episode, #15 Self Control, marks the end of the LMD arc of Agents of SHIELD’s 4th season. After finishing its second plot unit the show will go on hiatus for six weeks, until April 4th. No word yet on what the third and final arc will be titled, or if the series will get a fifth season. I’ll be keeping an eye out for those announcements.

Agents of SHIELD Season 4 Episode 14: The Man Behind the Shield Recap

aos414fitzsim

We open with Daisy and Coulson having a superfun sparring match, until Daisy kicks Phil too hard and he gets stuck in midair. I hate when that happens. They were in a mini Framework, designed for training exercises. When inside, agents can feel everything that’s happening as if it’s real. Phil notes that it was cold in the training room and Fitz tells him that Phil always leaves the base aircon set too low, so this is Fitz’s silent protest. I have a feeling that Fitz is quietly relentless with his silent protests, until the target is screaming for mercy.

The team discusses the larger version of the framework that May is in and possible ways to track its source code. Another agent comes in to tell them that they’ve found a GPS location for Mace’s suit in Nome, Alaska. The base is empty when SHIELD arrives, but Ivanov’s stalker wall on Coulson is still up. Coulson’s response: “This is why I don’t have Facebook.” Ivanov owns a mine that is pictured on the wall. It’s the location of one of Coulson and May’s early missions. The team sets off for the mine.

Riverdale Season 1 Chapter Four: The Last Picture Show Recap

rvd104jug

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. – Edmund Burke

This quote could probably be my recap for the week, possibly for the series, possibly also for the current political situation. In all three cases, there are many people waiting and watching, thinking of themselves as the good people, telling themselves that they are following the rules, the situation isn’t all that dire, others are overreacting, and it won’t be time to act until things get “really bad.” But what does “really bad” mean? When your 15 year old is sneaking out of the house to have sex with his music teacher, who is nearly 20 years older than him? When the teenagers in your supposedly idyllic town are in mental institutions, found murdered, or made homeless, and nobody saw it coming?

Nashville Season 5 Music Videos: Episodes 1-8

Nashville has been releasing songs from each episode as music videos, but they usually put the videos up later than I post my recaps, so I haven’t been including them there. Unfortunately, these are just the parts of each song shown in the episode, not the full songs. Maybe if they get enough hits it will encourage CMT to make full videos the way Crazy Ex-Girlfriend does, and to put up all of the songs. (Hallie’s songs and the church choir’s music are missing, for example.) Ad revenue is ad revenue, after all. The network makes money when you watch any of Nashville’s videos on CMT’s YouTube channel.
