Before long, she attracts the attention of witches, vampires and daemons, including Matthew de Clermont, an ancient French vampire.
A Discovery of Witches Season 1 Episode 2 Recap: In Which Matthew Visits a Daemon and Diana Is Betrayed – Matthew visits the estate of his daemon friend Hamish, where he hunts and gains some perspective. Diana continues her research, while the other witches try to convince her to give them the Book of Life. We’re introduced to the vampires of Venice, where the Congregation’s headquarters is located.
A Discovery of Witches Season 1 Episode 3 Recap: In Which Diana Discovers a New Talent – Matthew helps distract Diana from Peter and Gillian’s machinations by showing her one of his old homes. Diana reciprocates by cooking him dinner. Marcus convinces Diana to let the vampires test her blood.
A Discovery of Witches Season 1 Episode 4 Recap: In Which Matthew and Diana Visit Sept-Tours – Matthew brings Diana to Sept-Tours, the de Clermont ancestral French home where his vampire mother still lives. Ysabeau is a well known witch hunter, leading to a rocky start for her relationship with Diana. It doesn’t take long for Peter Knox and the Congregation to figure out where they’ve gone.
A Discovery of Witches Season 1 Episode 5 Recap: In Which Diana and Matthew Break the Covenant – Matthew returns to Oxford to investigate a break in at his lab while Diana stays at Sept-Tours with Ysabeau and Marthe. Ysabeau takes the opportunity to test Diana by informing her about the realities of vampires and of Matthew’s romantic past. Matthew informs Gillian that it’s not a good idea to mess with vampires without backup.
A Discovery of Witches Season 1 Episode 6 Recap: In Which Diana Is Kidnapped – The de Clermonts search for Diana after she’s kidnapped by Satu and Gerbert. Satu attempts to torture Diana’s secrets out of her.

Miriam and Marcus soon follow. Baldwin holds off the Congregation by blaming Satu for his failure to bring Diana before them. Agatha and Hamish exchange confidences.
A Discovery of Witches Season 1 Episode 8 Recap: In Which Diana and Matthew Take a Giant Leap – Friends, loved ones and new allies rally around Matthew and Diana to search for ways to thwart the species-separatist side of the Congregation. Diana’s magic and the Book of Life remain the keys to a long-term solution, so they need a safe place for her to solve both puzzles.

A Discovery of Witches Season 2 Episode 2 Recap: In Which Diana Tries Again – Diana connects with the powerful witch who’s meant to teach her to wield her unique magic. With Kit’s assistance, Matthew attempts to navigate the treacherous political waters of 16th century London while convincing everyone he’s still Matthew Royden. He shows the strain of coping with a new wife and old enemies.
A Discovery of Witches Season 2 Episode 3 Recap: In Which Diana Meets the Queen and Plans a Journey – Diana begins magic lessons with Goody Alsop and the local Gathering of witches, with surprising results. Matthew continues to deal with the chaos caused by his sudden disappearance from Berwick and reappearance in London with a witchy wife. He turns to religion to cope with the murder he committed in episode 2. Queen Elizabeth calls Matthew and Diana in for an audience to discuss his recent impertinent behavior.
A Discovery of Witches Season 2 Episode 4 Recap: In Which Marcus Visits an Auction House – In the present day, a vampire serial killer strikes in London, drawing the attention of other powerful vampires who seek to contain the mess. Domenico investigates the murders, which leads him to cross paths with Marcus. Marcus bids on a pair of 16th century miniature paintings which are up for sale at a high end auction house, where he meets Phoebe Taylor. Marcus must reconsider his priorities as de Clermont secrets begin to interfere with his life.
A Discovery of Witches Season 2 Episode 5 Recap: In Which Diana Meets Philippe – Diana and Matthew travel through 16th century France to Sept-Tours. Along the way, the stress of the journey and Matthew’s anxiety about seeing Philippe affect their relationship. Once they reach Matthew’s ancestral home, Philippe is suspicious of Diana, but surprisingly honest with her.
A Discovery of Witches Season 2 Episode 6 Recap: In Which More Secrets Are Revealed – In a visually stunning episode, Philippe exposes Diana to Matthew’s Blood Rage to ensure she realizes who she’s committing to, while he seeks to understand the rift he senses between himself and Matthew. Once he’s satisfied that Diana is worthy of Matthew and that the two are equally devoted to each other, he encourages them to fully mate.
A Discovery of Witches Season 2 Episode 7 Recap: In Which Diana and Matthew Meet Emperor Rudolf – Diana and Matthew arrive at Emperor Rudolf II’s court in Bohemia to search for the Book of Life and to check on Edward Kelley for Queen Elizabeth. They reunite with Gallowglass, Pierre and a few other members of their London family, who help out with their quest. The Emperor is quite taken with Diana, which sets off Matthew’s Blood Rage, threatening their mission.
A Discovery of Witches Season 2 Episode 8 Recap: In Which Marcus Tries Again – In the present day, Marcus struggle with his role as Grandmaster of the Knights of Lazarus and his new knowledge about Blood Rage. He’s also still thinking about Phoebe. Sophie gives birth to a baby girl who needs protection from other creatures. Emily draws Sarah into her attempts to contact Rebecca’s spirit using higher magic.
A Discovery of Witches Season 2 Episode 9 Recap: In Which Diana Is Given Surprising News – Matthew must answer to Queen Elizabeth for his failure to return Edward Kelley to England. Diana resumes her magical studies with Goody Alsop and makes substantial progress. Louisa and Kit confront Diana about the spell they think she’s cast over Matthew.
A Discovery of Witches Season 2 Episode 10 Recap: In Which Diana Contemplates Endings and Beginnings – The episode alternates between the present and the past. While preparing to return to the 21st century, Matthew and Diana receive a surprise visitor. Their allies gather at modern day Sept-Tour, as enemies close in.

Before long, Matthew’s brother, Baldwin, arrives to stir the pot further.
A Discovery of Witches Season 3 Episode 2 Recap: In Which Diana and Matthew Have Unexpected Family Reunions – Matthew and Diana continue to work with Chris and Miriam to analyze creature DNA. Father Hubbard returns Jack to them, with mixed results. After Benjamin reappears, Matthew agrees to form a scion.

A Discovery of Witches Season 3 Episode 4 Recap: In Which Diana And Matthew Welcome Twins – Diana and Sarah seek the help of a local coven to perform a locator spell. Gallowglass confesses his secret to Diana. Chris and Miriam’s research yields some disappointing results, which Miriam shares with Matthew in New Orleans. Everyone returns to London just in time for Diana to go into labor.
A Discovery of Witches Season 3 Episode 5: In Which Diana and Matthew Return to Sept-Tours – The Bishop-Clairmont family gathers for the twins’ christening and a Knights of Lazarus war council. Baldwin acts as the Congregation’s emissary. Gerbert urges the Congregation to punish the de Clermonts for breaking the Covenant. Benjamin lays a trap for Matthew.
A Discovery of Witches Season 3 Episode 6 Recap: In Which Diana and Matthew Attempt to Settle Old Scores – Matthew leaves to find Benjamin and punish him for stealing Philippe’s watch. Diana and Sarah head to the library to retrieve the Book of Life.
A Discovery of Witches Season 3 Episode 7 Recap: In Which Diana Rescues Matthew – The series finale. Diana rallies the family to find Matthew. Then she confronts the Congregation with The Book of Life & scientific evidence that the Covenant is helping drive species extinct. Eventually, there’s a voice over and a family reunion and a dance. We all get a little teary-eyed before we move on to checking for announcements about the next book and sending energy to Dr Harkness for the return of her good health. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
