The Expanse Season 2 Begins February 1st

SyFy’s epic space series The Expanse, based on the series of novels by my fellow New Mexican(s) James S A Corey,* returns on Wednesday, February 1st at 10:00 PM ET/ 9:00 PM CT. Season 1 premiered last year to generally favorable reviews. I loved the first season, though it was so rich and complex that I’m not sure how anyone who hadn’t read the first few books followed the first few episodes, or understood what the Belters were saying.** I had to stop the show frequently to interpret for my husband. A deeply drawn alternate universe with a well-thought out show bible is like crack for me, especially when a series based on books doesn’t rigidly adhere to them. Season 1 was like an appetizer, getting the key players on the board and giving us a sense of the game. (Yes, I mixed that metaphor. I am but a mere blogger, not a professional. I’ll mix metaphors if I want.) Season 1 is available on Amazon Prime to rewatch/check out for the first time. SyFy also has a Netflix deal globally.

Season 2 promises to open up the show’s universe even further, adding more locations and more characters from the books. The bits they’ve released so far are stunning. This post has the SyFy preview show The Expanse Expanded; the official Sneak Peek with Bobbie Draper, Martian Marine, on Mars; season 2 trailers; a What’s New in Season 2? video; and a few other video goodies.

The Expanse Expanded:

A sneak peek at Mars. Bobbie Draper shoots mini missiles from her back. Just sayin’.

Season 1 recap with cats (recat). SyFy is really proud of this one. If you watch nothing else, watch this one. For the children kittens.
