The Man in the High Castle Season 3: First Full Length Trailer and More

Among the world-changing events in Amazon’s new trailer for season 3 of The Man in the High Castle are the Nazi’s bid to rewrite American history by melting down the Liberty Bell, Juliana taking charge of the Resistance, and U2 allowing Pride (In the Name of Love) to be covered by another artist for the first time ever. Bono and the Edge must be fans of the show.

The new trailer is more than 2 minutes long and finally shows much more detail than the teaser trailers did, giving us a good idea of where Castle is going this season. It looks bold and exciting. They are taking the next step in world-building, opening up the parallel worlds for exploration and discussion among more of the cast and the original world.

Overall the trailer shows a natural progression of the storylines from their individual, secretive beginnings in season 1 to an organizational, national level in season 2, bringing us to an explosive, global, possibly multiuniversal level in season 3. With only 10 episodes and a season 4 renewal already in the bag, I’m willing to bet that the conquest/true exploration of the multiverse will wait for the next season, while this season is spent fighting over who is in control of the world when the gates are breached on an official basis.

The trailer and more after the jump.

Netflix has given us some great news to start the weekend! They’ve finally officially announced the season 2 renewal of their neo noir sci fi thriller Altered Carbon. It seems they were waiting to make the announcement until they could also announce who the new co-showrunner and star would be.

Anthony Mackie, who’s most well-known for playing the Falcon/Sam Wilson in the MCU Captain America and Avengers films, will play the new sleeve of former Envoy and Protectorate soldier Takeshi Kovacs. Mackie has been in numerous other films, notably the critically acclaimed The Hurt Locker. His only other major foray into television was the 2016 HBO film All the Way, in which Mackie played Martin Luther King, Jr opposite Bryan Cranston’s Lyndon Johnson. That film was also well received.

The Man in the High Castle Season 3: Release Date and New Trailer from SDCC

mithc-s3

As expected, Amazon took the opportunity to announce the release date for season 3 of The Man in the High Castle at the San Diego Comic Con last weekend. The entire 10 episode season will drop on Amazon Prime on 10/5/18. Amazon also gave us a bonus announcement: The show has already been renewed for season 4, which is a much needed show of faith after an almost 2 year wait between seasons and the number of shows that Amazon has already cancelled recently.

The Man in the High Castle Season 3: New Teaser Trailer

Resistance Rises!

Close to two years after season two was released, Amazon appears to be making moves toward releasing season 3 of its alternate universe show The Man in the High Castle. The show, and Amazon Prime Video, have had various issues that slowed down the production of season 3. Amazon cancelled many of their shows during the same period, including their prestige, flagship shows, like Mozart in the Jungle.

Amazon released a short teaser video today, announcing that season three will be available this fall. Watch the video after the cut.

Samantha Bee Calls Ivanka Trump Sexist Profanity, Spends the Next Day Dealing with the Repercussions

On her Wednesday, 5/30/18 episode of the TBS show Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Ms. Bee aired a story about the recent immigration issues concerning the separation of children from their parents. During the story, she showed a tweet from Ivanka Trump that included a photo of Trump with her son and called Trump “a feckless c**t”.
The segment was quickly met with harsh criticism from many sources, with some, including Donald Trump, calling for her show’s cancellation. Samantha Bee and TBS apologized for her choice of language. She spent the next day dealing with the fallout from the incident. But by last night, she was complaining that she’d had to waste time on sexism instead of focusing on immigration.
Samantha Bee, maybe next time don’t use vile, misogynist language to make your point, if you want to keep the focus on the issue you intended. I don’t care who the woman or man in question is, that word should never be used because of its implication that female body parts, and women themselves, equal something disgusting. And your implication that the abuse of women isn’t as important as racism is revolting.

Recaps Are Coming!

The Metawitches have been on vacation in the cold upper midwest for the last couple of weeks- cold compared to New Mexico, anyway- but we’re back now, and ready to start writing again. It’s a bit slow going for me (Metacrone) because I always pay for travel with flare ups, but I should have something done today or tomorrow.

New SciFi Show: NBC’s Reverie Starts Wednesday, 5/30 [Video]

Are we ready to take a chance on the next broadcast network scifi show? Reverie is created by Mickey Fisher (Extant, The Strain), executive produced by Steven Spielberg and stars Sarah Shahi (Person of Interest), Dennis Haysbert (Allstate car insurance commercials, President Palmer on 24), Jessica Lu (Awkward), Sendhil Ramamurthy (Heroes), and Kathryn Morris (Cold Case). That’s a pretty great pedigree.

NBC’s description of the show’s premise:

“This grounded new thriller follows Mara Kint (Sarah Shahi), a former hostage negotiator and expert on human behavior, who became a college professor after facing an unimaginable personal tragedy. But when her former boss, Charlie Ventana (Dennis Haysbert), brings her in to save ordinary people who have lost themselves in an immersive, highly advanced virtual reality program in which users can live out their wildest dreams, she finds that in saving others, she may actually have discovered a way to save herself.”

In one of the videos below, star Sarah Shahi describes it as “a psychological thriller set in a virtual reality world.”
