Santa Clarita Diet Season 1 Episode 4: The Farting Sex Tourist Recap

scd104sheilaprincipal

Good morning! It’s a beautiful day in Santa Clarita. Sheila has her freezer full of fresh smoothie fixings, and we’re serenaded by the Puppini Sisters while she works the blender. Then it’s time for a brisk walk with the neighborhood wives.

Unfortunately, not everyone is enjoying life as much as Sheila is today. Alondra wants to follow John Legend on tour, but being a new mom is cramping her style. Lisa’s sex life is boring. Is anyone surprised that Dan treats sex like a military operation? Sheila advises them both to live life to the fullest, have more fun, give it the full Oprah! Lisa and Alondra notice how different Sheila is lately. She attributes it to her new, protein rich diet.

Santa Clarita Diet Season 1 Episode 3: We Can Kill People Recap

scd103plasticwrap

This episode picks up the morning after episode 2. Sheila proves that she’s the best mombie in town by worrying about how her new undead status is affecting Abby’s mental health. Joel is more concerned with the need to kill someone so that Sheila can eat, but he’s still insensitively consuming an omelet for breakfast in front of her. She reminds him that parenthood is everyday, and she hasn’t eaten in two days.

Abby breezes through on her way to school and Starbucks. Sheila and Joel decide to implement regular family dinner nights so that they can check in with Abby every evening. They tell Abby that Sheila will be eating poultry and beef from now on. Abby is not thrilled that her parents want to keep a closer eye on her.

Sheila and Joel get down to the business of planning their first murder as a couple. The ideal candidate is a young Hitler, someone evil and unattached. They need to get organized.

The 100 Season 4 Episode 2: Heavy Lies the Crown Recap

hu402bribel

This week on The 100, everyone learns, again, how difficult leadership is, how much the grounders hate Skaikru, and how uncertain their long term survival is.

We start nine days previously, when ALIE still had control of everyone in the City of Light. She’s instructed a young man named Ilian to kill his family members one by one until his mother takes the chip. When Clarke shuts down ALIE, Ilian’s mother is dying, and tells him to avenge her death. He’s the only one in his family left alive.

Back to the present day, Abby and Kane are enjoying the pleasant accommodations in Polis and finally sharing a bed. 😌 Abby feels a little guilty about Clarke’s father, but Kane tells her that Jake’s part of who she is. He sends her off to help King Roan.

Agents of Shield Season 4 Episode 13: Boom Recap

aos413daisy

Oh look, now that we have a shiny new Superior, Agents of Shield has Dropped a Fridge on Ellen Nadeer. No need to pay that actress any more, or give the character an actual storyline to write her off. Just, BOOM, disposable female character. And a promotion for the less interesting white male character played by John Piper Ferguson. We definitely haven’t explored enhanced men who play with fire before. Not even ones who are  inhuman and turn on their own kind to work for the Watchdogs. cough Hellfire cough

Radciffe is emerging from a visit to Melinda May’s virtual prison world. He’s thrilled that it’s so endless and realistic. It’s keeping May happy and occupied, which meets Radcliffe’s twisted moral standards.

Ivanov has spent the night reading the Darkhold. He doesn’t seem to have been affected by it, which gives us a sense of how dark his mind was already. The Darkhold told Ivanov that Radcliffe was the one who could make his dreams come true. They will wipe out the inhumans together. First, they need an inhuman to dangle in front of SHIELD. Radcliffe has created purified terigenesis crystals that are harmless to regular humans but still stimulate terrigenesis in inhumans.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 Episode 11: Turncoat Recap

lot211amaya

This week’s opening narration brought to you by Mick Rory:

“Seriously, you idiots haven’t figured this out by now? It all started when we blew up  the Time Masters. Now history’s all screwed up and it’s up to us to unscrew it up. But, half the time we screw it up even worse. So don’t call us heroes. We’re something else. We’re legends. Who writes this crap, anyway?”

Sometimes I wonder that myself.

Christmas Day, 1776. Rip Hunter has killed George Washington, and is now supplying the British army with modern weapons. This is a set up to attract the Legends so that Rip can kill his former teammates and acquire their piece of the Spear of Destiny. Rip tells Eobard that he’s looking forward to having fun with the plan.

Supergirl Season 2 Episode 11: The Martian Chronicles Recap

SPG211Kara.png

Okay, has everyone who watches Jane the Virgin had enough time to process this week’s events? Are we ready to talk about Supergirl? The Metawitches household needed a few minutes to get back on track.

It’s another tough episode for Kara, emotionally. She’s still on a bit of an ego trip, which she’s using to avoid her real feelings, and the people who make her feel them. The show is finally starting to dig a little deeper into her issues and past. Childhood trauma is something the Berlantiverse loves to explore. They do it fairly well, addressing it in bits and pieces over time. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with Kara’s past, and how they relate it to her personality, if they take it further than they did tonight. The Flash has brought up some fascinating aspects of Barry Allen’s character, especially in Season 1.

Santa Clarita Diet Season 1 Episode 2: We Can’t Kill People! Recap

scd102buryinggary

Joel and Sheila have driven out into the desert to dispose of Gary’s remains. Sheila’s gossiping about friends who might sell their house. She’s excited about the listing. Joel seems a bit tense. They have a Rubbermaid bin full of Gary, but Sheila couldn’t find the lid. They have an argument about the lost lid that has been had by every single cohabitating couple since the invention of Tupperware. They might be the first ones to have it over a container holding the body parts of a coworker. Let’s hope so, for our peace of mind.

Another car appears in the desert. They rush to push Gary toward the hole they’ve been digging, but without a lid, he slops over the sides and ends up all over the place. Joel and Sheila prove how strong their marriage is by putting aside the argument and shoving the Gary mush toward the hole together. The other car pulls right up in front of them. By now, they’re covered in blood, holding shovels, and surrounded by a bloody mess on the ground. Joel suggests they act casual. They should pretend to be helpful Mormons who’ve stopped to clean up a murder site. Mormons do have a reputation for being helpful during crises. It could happen.

Santa Clarita Diet Season 1 Episode 1: So Then a Bat or a Monkey Recap

scd_101drewtim

Santa Clarita Diet is Netflix’s latest offering. It stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant as a pair of upper middle class,  married, suburban realtors who live in sunny Southern California. They are devoted to each other, and seem to be living the American dream, until something goes terribly wrong. But this couple has a can-do spirit and a willingness to work through their problems together, which is frankly refreshing to see on a TV series these days.

What goes wrong and threatens to ruin their nearly perfect lives, you ask? Well, Sheila, the wife, dies during a house showing and comes back as a zombie. Now she needs to eat people to survive. And her impulse control is nearly nonexistent. Other than that, she feels great!! Better than ever, in fact. As long as she doesn’t get too hungry.

Nashville Season 5 Episode 6: A Little Bit Stronger Recap

nvl506julavery

I have not been adequately keeping up with Nashville casting news. Until this episode, I had no idea that Rhiannon Giddens, who plays Hallie, is a Grammy winner, and that the group she played with in the episode, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, is her real life music group. I also totally missed it when CMT announced in September that they’d hired an out transgender actress for the first time. Nashville is becoming much more diverse lately. It makes Scarlett’s extremely triggery storyline a little easier to take.

Deacon and Rayna are spooked by the stalker who approached her at Highway 65 last week. Personally, I find Zach’s attitude about Scarlett and Damien way creepier, but I am not a celebrity. Last week’s guy seemed totally harmless, like he just wants to share the love. Anyway, Rayna and Deacon have hired a professional security firm with former soldiers who mean serious business. Do not take a wrong turn down Rayna’s street if you know what’s good for you.
